What is Fractional CO2 Laser?

Fractional CO2 Laser is a medical deep skin renewal technology that delivers light beams divided into thermal microcolumns. These microcolumns penetrate the skin in a controlled way, removing damaged tissue layers and stimulating the production of new collagen for real regeneration from within.

How it works

The laser creates controlled microchannels in the skin. The surrounding intact tissue activates the body's natural repair process, producing new collagen and elastin. The result is firmer, more even, and rejuvenated skin.

What to expect

Results are progressive, not immediate. The skin goes through natural recovery stages over weeks. Real improvement is seen between months 3 and 6, when new collagen has fully matured.

⚠️

Important clarification from Dr. Lindsay: Fractional CO2 Laser is not the same as carboxytherapy (which uses CO2 gas injections). They are completely different treatments. Also, it is not a "magic eraser" — it improves imperfections but does not eliminate them 100%. Realistic expectations are key to being satisfied with your results.

What does Fractional CO2 Laser treat?

This treatment addresses multiple skin conditions with clinically proven results. These are its main indications:

Skin Rejuvenation

Smooths wrinkles and fine lines by stimulating new collagen production. Especially effective for perioral lines (around the mouth), crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles. Skin regains firmness and a more youthful appearance.

Texture & Pores

Refines uneven skin texture and reduces the appearance of enlarged pores. Ideal for rough, dull, or uneven skin surfaces. Texture results are often the most noticeable and earliest to appear.

Acne Scarring

Especially effective for acne scars (pitted, depressed areas) and surgical scars. The laser reconstructs scar tissue from within, visibly improving skin surface contour and smoothness.

Pigmentation & Sun Damage

Treats hyperpigmentation and sun damage under medical supervision. By removing surface layers with excess melanin, new emerging skin has a more even tone. Strict sun protection is required throughout.

Who is this treatment for?

Not everyone is an ideal candidate. A prior medical evaluation is essential to determine whether CO2 laser is the right treatment for your specific case.

Recovery process and results

Results are progressive and develop in three well-defined stages. It is completely normal for skin to look different during recovery — that means the process is working correctly.

Stage 1

Days 1 – 7

Redness, swelling, and controlled peeling. The skin sheds treated surface layers. This is the most uncomfortable period but also the most active for regeneration.

Stage 2

Weeks 2 – 4

Inflammation decreases noticeably. New skin becomes visible. Subtle improvements in texture and tone start to show. Some residual pink tone continues to fade gradually.

Stage 3

Months 3 – 6

Final result with visible improvement. New collagen is fully matured. Wrinkles softened, scars improved, texture refined. This is when the true impact of the treatment becomes fully apparent.

Patience during recovery is part of the treatment itself. Each stage has a biological purpose. Following aftercare instructions precisely largely determines the final quality of your results.

Basic post-treatment care

Treatment success depends equally on the procedure and at-home aftercare. These instructions are mandatory, not optional.

1

SPF 50+ sunscreen — non-negotiable

Daily use of broad-spectrum SPF 50 or higher sunscreen is essential throughout recovery and for several months after. Treated skin is extremely sensitive to UV rays. Skipping sunscreen can trigger new pigmentation spots.

2

Keep skin well hydrated

Apply the moisturizer recommended by Dr. Lindsay frequently. Skin undergoing renewal needs a constant moisture barrier to heal properly and prevent excessive dryness or irritation.

3

Cleanse with gentle products only

Use only fragrance-free, acid-free cleansers. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the skin. Cleanse gently with soft circular motions using lukewarm (not hot) water.

4

Do not scratch or pick at peeling skin

Natural peeling is part of the process. Forcibly removing crusts or peeling skin can cause scarring, pigmentation, and infection. Let the skin shed naturally, aided by your moisturizer.

5

Avoid intense heat sources

Saunas, hot tubs, intense exercise, and direct sun exposure are contraindicated during Stage 1 and part of Stage 2. Heat increases inflammation and can compromise the healing process.
