What is lip micropigmentation and neutralization?

Lip micropigmentation is a semi-permanent aesthetic procedure that enhances the color, shape, and harmony of the lips by implanting pigment into the superficial skin layers. The goal is to naturally enhance their appearance without the need to apply lipstick every day.

Lip neutralization is a specific variant of the procedure designed to correct dark, purple, or uneven tones on the lips. Through complementary pigments, the natural color is neutralized and the tone is unified — resulting in lighter, more even lips with a healthier, more vibrant appearance.

👄

Improves color, shape and harmony

Defines the lip contour and unifies the tone for a natural and elegant result, tailored to each person's unique features.

👥

Suitable for women and men

The procedure adapts to any lip type and skin tone, always with a personalized and natural approach.

Natural and elegant results

This is not a permanent lipstick — it's a subtle enhancement that amplifies natural beauty without altering facial expression.

⏱️

Semi-permanent and gradually fading

The pigment fades progressively over 1 to 2 years, allowing tone adjustments at each touch-up session.

💡

Lips without lipstick? Yes, it's possible. Micropigmentation lets you wake up with defined, colorful lips 24 hours a day — after swimming, exercising, or any time — with no constant reapplication needed.

Available techniques

At Daley we offer different micropigmentation techniques adapted to each client's needs and goals. Our specialist will evaluate with you which technique is most appropriate for your lip type and the result you want to achieve.

Full micropigmentation

Complete lip fill with pigment

The entire lip is pigmented with a uniform color. Ideal for those who want consistent, defined color without lipstick. The chosen shade should be natural and complement the skin tone.

Lip liner / contouring

Definition of the lip border

Pigment is applied only to the lip contour to define its shape and make it look visually fuller and more symmetrical. Very natural effect, ideal for those wanting definition without intense color.

Lip neutralization

Correction of dark or uneven tones

Corrective pigments are used to neutralize purple, dark, or blotchy tones. The process may require multiple sessions depending on the intensity of the original tone.

Aquarelle / gradient

Gradient effect from the center

A technique that creates a watercolor effect with greater intensity at the center of the lip, fading toward the contour. A very natural and modern result, similar to a lip tint effect.

Pre-appointment care

Proper preparation is key to reducing discomfort during the procedure, minimizing bleeding risk, and ensuring the pigment sets correctly. Follow these instructions in the days leading up to your Daley session.

1

No alcohol or dark beverages

Avoid alcohol and dark beverages (coffee, wine, dark sodas) for the 24 hours before your appointment. These substances can thin your blood and increase bleeding during the procedure.

2

No aspirin or blood thinners

Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and anticoagulants at least 48 hours before your session. If you take prescribed medications, consult with our specialist before suspending them.

3

Hydrate lips for 4 days before

Apply moisturizing lip balm at least 4 days before your appointment. Well-hydrated lips absorb pigment better and make the session more comfortable and the result more even.

4

No lip products beforehand

Arrive at your appointment without lipstick or any lip products applied. The skin must be clean so our specialist can evaluate your natural tone and apply the pigment correctly.

5

Consult antiviral if you have cold sores

If you have a history of cold sores (herpes labialis), the procedure can trigger an outbreak. Consult your doctor about preventive antiviral medication (acyclovir) before your session.

6

Arrive with clean, hydrated lips

On the day of your appointment, apply lip balm in the morning but arrive without any makeup or lipstick on. This allows us to begin the procedure immediately.

💡

Daley Tip: If you have an important event (wedding, trip, meeting), schedule your appointment at least 3 weeks in advance. The full healing process takes 2-4 weeks and lips may look intense or have light scabs during the first few days.

Healing process: what's normal?

After the session, lips go through a natural healing process that lasts between 2 and 4 weeks. Knowing each stage will help you stay calm and care for yourself correctly at every step.

Day 1-2

Swelling and redness

Lips appear fuller, redder, and more intense. This is the skin's normal reaction to the procedure.

Day 3-5

Light scab formation

Fine scabs form over the pigment. Don't pick them — they fall off naturally, and removing them early takes pigment with them.

Day 6-10

Faded or uneven color

Once scabs fall off, color may look very light or patchy. This is completely normal: the pigment is still settling beneath the skin.

Week 3-4

True and defined color

The final color emerges once healing is complete. This is when it's evaluated whether a touch-up session is needed.

⚠️

Important: Do not touch or scratch your lips during the healing process. Apply only the compresses or products recommended by your Daley specialist. Any manipulation can affect the final result.

When to schedule your touch-up?

At 4-6 weeks

The ideal time to evaluate the final result and make adjustments to color, symmetry, or intensity.

If color looks uneven

Some areas may absorb less pigment. The touch-up corrects these differences without redoing the whole procedure.

If you have oily or fast-exfoliating skin

Oily skin with high cell turnover tends to expel more pigment. Touch-ups are especially important in these cases.

The first session is just the beginning

The procedure is designed in two stages: main session + touch-up. Both are part of the complete process.

Post-session care to protect your results

Post-session care is just as important as the procedure itself. Following these instructions correctly largely determines the final intensity, uniformity, and duration of your color.

First 24 hours: keep lips dry

Avoid getting lips wet from water, sweat, or rain. Clean gently with a damp compress without rubbing, following your specialist's specific instructions.

First week: no sun or heat

Avoid sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, and activities involving intense heat for at least one week. Heat and UV rays can affect pigment fixation and alter the final color.

Until healed: no lip products

Do not apply creams, makeup, or lipsticks until healing is complete (2-4 weeks). Products can contaminate the area or interfere with the pigment setting process.

Always: hydrate and protect

Once healed, keep lips moisturized with fragrance-free balm and protect them from the sun with SPF lip balm. Consistent hydration extends the life of your color.

How long do results last?

Lip micropigmentation is a semi-permanent treatment: the pigment gradually fades over time, allowing you to refresh or adjust the tone at each maintenance session.

1-2
Years duration
Depending on skin type, sun exposure and post-care routine
1
Touch-up per year
Recommended to keep color fresh and well-defined over time
100%
Personalized
Shade and technique designed specifically for your face
Results are progressive, natural, and personalized. The final outcome depends on the healing process and post-care — that's why at Daley we walk with you through every stage of the journey.

What affects duration?

Skin type

Oily skin tends to metabolize pigment faster than dry or normal skin types.

Sun exposure

Sun fades pigment over time. Using SPF lip balm significantly extends the life of the color.

Consistent hydration

Well-moisturized lips retain pigment longer and the color stays more uniform over time.

Touch-up sessions

An annual touch-up keeps the color vibrant and defined, extending the full treatment cycle.
